My neighbor’s drill taught me more about business than a MBA
—
1889, Melbourne Australia, two man were going to invent a device that we still have to argue if is good or not.
Arthur James Arnot and William Blanch invented the first electric drill, while this device was large, heavy, and designed for industrial mining. Was not until 1895 that the portable version was invented.
Since then there’s not a house that I’ve lived that doesn’t have a neighbor using one of these at some point during the week.
Any time is a good time to make some holes on the wall. But how many holes the walls need? by the amount of times I hear the drill there should be no more wall left.
Are those walls not finished? That’s the real story here.
You see, nothing is ever truly finished. We’re always looking for a way to improve things, whether it’s a wall, a tool, or our own lives. We see a gap, a flaw, or just a chance to make something better, and we can’t help but start drilling.
In this fast moving world, there’s tremendous opportunity for the men and women who observe what’s missing and have the courage to build it. Nothing has yet been done perfectly. Everything in the world remains to be done or done over.
Take nothing for granted. Everything can and will be changed, improved. The only thing you can count on is change.
If you’re one of those people who wants to be at the forefront of that change, I share insights and strategies every day to help you do it. Inside here.
