How I made my best business decisions doing absolutely nothing
Weaponize your boredom
Your brain is a problem-solving machine.
And if you know how to harness that power youβll be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams.
Imagine this. Youβre waiting for a friend whoβs running late. Whatβs your first impulse?
Grab your phone and start scrolling, right? Itβs almost automatic. We feel this constant need to fill every empty moment with noise, because being alone with our own thoughts can be intimidating.
Hereβs the thing. Your mind is designed to solve problems. It loves a good challenge. and if you donβt give it a meaningful problem to work on, it will invent its own. Thatβs where stress, anxiety, and pointless arguments come fromβthe brain is just trying to do its job, but with bad material.
So what if you took control of those empty spaces?
Instead of scrolling while you wait for your girlfriend to get ready, you could pull out a book and read two pages. Or, even better, you could consciously feed your brain one of the big, important problems in your life. Think about that business idea, that tough conversation you need to have, or that goal youβve been putting off.
Let your mind chew on something important. Youβll be amazed at the solutions that can come up when youβre not even trying.
